THE CLIENT

Supporting the client, a Swedish furniture company, with their first steps into the world of home automation and light steering.

Project Goal

Setting up a platform for a connected home in- and outside, allow users to enjoy, create and personalize atmospheric light scenarios which reinforces a new sense of well being.

The eco-system contains of physical and digital components, like light bulbs, motion sensors and switches, connected through a gateway and controllable by a mobile application. Overall goal was to shape this experience for users from the out- of- the-box moment up to setting up a growing family of smart home appliances at their homes.

 

 

Design Process

The project team was working in an agile software development process with scrum approach. During sprints of 30 days, Product Owners, Designers, QA and Developers were collaborative working on single product pieces.

 

Wireframing & Prototyping

How users would add new accessories like light bulbs or sensors to an existing group was part of a sprint. In order to explore all influencing elements and define screen steps, the team was building physical and software prototypes.

 

UI Application peak

Work-in-progress status of several key screens which control brightness, colour of scenes and manage light accessories..

 

Prototyping of detailed UI Animations

To communicate animation details to the developers and to correlate to Android and iOS animation guidelines, UI detailed animations were build is Pixate and Framer.
